Ca2+-Daptomycin targets cell wall biosynthesis by forming a tripartite complex with undecaprenyl-coupled intermediates and membrane lipids

Fabian Grein (Project A11), Ulrich Kubitscheck (Project A11) and Tanja Schneider (Project A10) could show that daptomycin in presence of Ca2+ simultaneously interacts with lipid-coupled precursors of the bacterial cell envelope and the anionic phospholipid phosphatidylglycerol, forming a tripartite complex. These findings were published in Nature Communications.
